The old year certainly rang out happily for local thoroughbred owner Roddy Valente, thanks in part to a gritty 7-year-old handicap horse named Coyote Lakes.
The Arizona-bred won Saturday's $115,400 Gallant Fox Handicap for Troy resident Valente for the second consecutive year in the Grade III stake, a race the gelding has competed in four consecutive years.
