Fed: Downer commiserates with pakistan cricket authorities

Foreign Minister ALEXANDER DOWNER has commiserated with the Pakistan Cricket Boardafter Australian cricket authorities cancelled a three-Test tour set for October.

The ACB today cancelled the tour because of serious concerns over the safety and securityof the team.

Mr DOWNER has expressed his disappointment to the Pakistani Cricket Board.

And says the decision was made by the ACB on the basis of its assessment of the securityof its own players.

The Department of Foreign Affairs advises Australians to defer travel to Pakistan andsuggests travellers already there should leave.

Earlier this week, Australians were among staff and children attacked at a missionaryschool in a hill town near the Pakistan capital, Islamabad.
