Qld: New child care measures a 'stopgap', Spence says

The Queensland government says the federal government's creation of new child care
places is only a stopgap measure.

Federal Minister for Children and Youth Affairs LARRY ANTHONY has announced he will
lift the cap on family day care by 2,500 places and add 10,000 places in outside school
hours care.

But Queensland Families Minister JUDY SPENCE says this won't enough for Queensland.

She says the Australian Bureau of Statistics estimates that more than 38,000 children
in Queensland need additional child care.
