A North-east politician appealed to colleagues' stomachs to wintheir hearts for a food campaign he is backing.
Tory MSP Alex Johnstone hosted a reception at Holyrood to helpmark Scottish Food Week.
At the event MSPs got the chance to taste some of the best foodproduced in Scotland.
The reception highlighted the campaign by the Country AllianceEducation Trust to support local producers and persuade schools,prisons and hospitals to get their food from them.
The campaign is aimed at backing the Scottish economy and farmers.
It is also supporting the environment by reducing the number ofmiles food has to travel before it reaches the shops. With a largearray of food and drink on offer the event proved to be the mostpopular of three in the Scottish Parliament on the same night.
Mr Johnstone, pictured, said: "It could be said that the way toan MSPs heart and mind is through his stomach, but there were also anunusually high number from the press there too.
"There was a serious point, which is to highlight the greatquality of locally produced Scottish food.
"Schools, hospitals and prisons are big purchasers and could savemoney, reduce the carbon footprint and improve the quality of theirfood by buying local.
"We want super-market chains to have local products as well."
