University at Albany football coach Bob Ford considers himself a "die-hard fan" of the Boston Red Sox. He said the Yankees' elimination from the playoffs left him overjoyed.
The departure of Joe Torre, however, left Ford angered.
"I'm upset for baseball, I'm upset for Joe Torre and I'm upset for everyone who can appreciate good coaching," Ford said.
Ford, like many other college and professional coaches in the Capital Region, blasted the Yankees' treatment of Torre and supported the former manager's decision to turn down the team's offer.
